Matthew Kinross-Smith

Matthew’s experience is diverse, having graduated from the University of Melbourne, he commenced legal practice in 1990 with a large national firm in Melbourne. He has a master’s degree in law (International Law) and worked on a range of international treaty matters for the Commonwealth Government for six years, returning to private practice in Geelong, where he grew up, in 2002.

Matthew has experience in a wide range of areas focusing on commercial/business law (acting for those buying or selling businesses, structuring business entities such as partnership agreement, shareholder and unitholder agreements), property, building and planning law, lease preparation and leasing law advice, trusts law, succession law (Wills, Powers of Attorney and Appointment of Medical Treatment decision maker documents), franchising and employment law (drafting and reviewing agreements and advising on compliance with employment laws).

He has provided advice/drafted documents in these areas as well as advising in a range of other areas including intellectual property, franchising, insolvency, insurance, Trade Practices/consumer law, tax/Stamp duty, mortgages and guarantees and occupational health and safety. In his early years in practice, he also gained experience in criminal law and family law.
